Farewell

Hello to anyone that might be reading this. As a group we have decided that this blog is crap, and we have decided to shut it down. We may make a new one under a different name, if that is the case, we will inform you of it in a post. So, as of now, good day, Godspeed and peace out.

Dishonored

So, I finished Dishonored the other day, and it was great. For those of you who don't know, it's an action/stealth game set in a steam punk style fictional land.
The story is about a dude named Corvo Attano, and he is the royal guard for the empress of the city of Dunwall, but that's all I'm gonna say about that for the sake of not revealing any spoilers.
This game, was made by Bethesda, and has great graphics that are very reminiscent of Bioshock. The voice acting is well done, but some of the enemies dialogue can get a little old. The gameplay is dynamic with a good control scheme and a wide range of unlockable goodies.

One thing I was hoping for in this game was an open world layout, but instead it has a more mission and objective based style, but it is handled quite well and doesn't get too repetitious.
The story is very intriguing, with a lot of background story on various characters and the city itself, which is something Bethesda is very good at formulating, as evidenced by The Elder Scrolls franchise.
All in all, I would give this game a 4.5 out of 5 stars, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes stealth games.

Revolution DLC

Hey, dudes, I got the season pass for Black Ops 2 a little while back, and now the time has come...Revolution is here. The first map pack for COD is a pretty darn good one, I got to play 2 of the 4 multiplayer maps, namely Hydro and Grind.

I wasn't totally impressed with Hydro, mostly just because I kept getting killed. The map is a hydroelectric plant, which makes for some intriguing gameplay, including a part of the map that has water flowing through it, and at a certain time after the game has started, said water flows extremely fast, killing everything in it's wake.

Grind is set in a skatepark. There aren't many corners in this map, most of everything is rounded, with terrain including ramps, and halfpipes and the like. I really like the no corners thing, as it adds some nifty cover opportunities.

Included in the map pack is a new gun, entitled the Peacekeeper, a hybrid between an SMG and an Assault Rifle. the thing packs a pretty good punch, with good maneuverability to boot, but I'm gonna stick with my PDW-57.

I also got my hands on the new zombies map and mode, Die Rise is what I played first, and it is awesome, now I only got into the 10th round, but those rounds were filled with joy. The map introduces steep drops and verticality, a first for zombies, this new found dimension adds another element of paranoia to the gameplay.

I also tried out the new mode, entitled Turned. Turned is a game that is reminiscent to a game of tag you might have enjoyed with your childhood chums...if said chums were human eating monstrosities. The gameplay consists of you and some other human players that start off as zombies, the first one to find the cure becomes a human and must fend off the other players, once the human (it) gets killed by the undead hooligans, the hooligan that killed him gains the gift of life, and must fend off the undead. Each kill you make, and every time you become human, you get points, when the time runs out, the person with the most points wins.

All in all, I like this new addition. If you own an Xbox, you should buy it. if you don't then you're out of luck.
This is Matt, with game corner, signing off.

THQ is gone

Just like the title says, THQ game developer and publisher has filed for bankruptcy. In case you were wondering, THQ made awesome games like "Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine" and the "Saints Row" series, although they did have their fair share of awful games too, it truly feels like I've just lost a friend, all those years of seeing the logo floating past my screen, and now it's all gone. So long THQ, rest in peace.

The Human Element

Hey, dudes, I'd like to talk about an upcoming game called "The Human Element". It's a survival game developed by a new company called Robotoki. The game is set 30 years after a zombie apocalypse, and let's you pick your own abilities in the game such as Scavenger or Scout etc., which is a fairly valuable feature for people with different gaming styles. Another thing that's interesting is, instead of scaling enemy resilience up or down to vary difficulty, it instead allows you to pick your persona, such as single adult, an adult couple, or an adult and child, which makes choosing difficulty a complete story changer. Very little other information has been given about this game, but it has been revealed that Robotoki is planning a 2015 release. Here's a link to they're website http://www.humanelementgame.com/. Personally, I am very excited about this game, as it offers a new zombie way of thinking, that could shake things up a bit from the usual blasting of rotten faces, and instead gives you more of a "human element", but sadly, we're gonna have to wait a while. This is Matt, with your gaming news, signing off.

Latest in the NBA

What's up dudes and dudettes!? Been a while since we last hung out huh? Anyway I wanted to fill you guys in a little about what's going on in the basketball world. In the NBA, we have the Thunder leading the way with best record in the league (31-8) after another win tonight against the Nuggets. The Thunder defeated the Nuggets by a score of 117-97 as Russell Westbrook exploded for 32 points and chipped in with four assists. Kevin Durant and Kevin Martin were also big factors in the win as each one contributed 20 more points to the Thunder's total. Kosta Koufos led the Nuggets in scoring with 16 points and hit the glass hard getting nine rebounds. JaVale mcGee also helped out with 15 points while Andre Iguodala finished with 12. However the Thunder can't get too comfortable where they're at beacuse the clippers aren't too far behind with a record of 30-9. It's been a great season so far and I can't wait to see how it all pans out! Be sure to stay tuned for the latest in sports right here on Three Dudes in a Room. This is Austin saying see ya later dudes!!!

Review of Scratches

Guess what time it is! If you vehemently said "Video game review time!", you're correct, "Tool time!" was also an acceptable answer. In this installment, I'm gonna review "Scratches" which is a little known, quickly played, point-and-click, PC horror game.  The main plot centers around a dude, that buys a creepy old house, out in the woods and turns out, there's some messed up stuff going down, and that's about all I can say without spoiling it.

Graphics are not that great, even for low budget indie standards. Sound is kinda sub-par, with voice acting being a rough patch. The interface can be a little confusing at times, I found my self skimming through a walkthrough, just to figure out how to put the key in the keyhole at the beginning. Pretty much the only redeeming quality is the story, which is still pretty forgettable. So all in all, I give this game a 3 out of 5, which is a solid "meh". If you want to play it, you can find it on Steam fairly cheap.

COD Black Ops 2 Map Pack

Looks like Black Ops 2 is getting some new stuff, Treyarch announced the DLC pack titled "Revolution". The pack will contain four new multiplayer maps, named "Hydro", "Downhill", "Mirage", and "Grind", a new zombies map entitled "Die Rise" and an entire new zombies mode called "Turned". What interests me most is "Turned", because it puts you in the shoes (Do they where shoes?) of the zombies. The DLC will be exclusive to the Xbox for a while, with a release date set at Jan. 29th, as for PC and PS3, there is no confirmed release date set. I'll bring you more info as the story unfolds.

New weird Microsoft projector thing

This just in (from gameinformer), Microsoft is working on a new accessory called IllumiRoom that turns your walls and various other objects near your TV into part of the game display, here's a link to Gameinformer. And in case you're too lazy to open a link, here's the video from it
OK, so, this thing could be revolutionary...or if you get motion sick, this could be horrible, heck, I got a little woozy just from watching the video. Granted, I do love seeing people try to make games more immersive, but I don't really think I want my stomach contents to become a regular part of my Call of Duty experience, and not to mention people with epilepsy, or just an innocent toddler passing by, who doesn't expect flames and sparks to start reverberating off his walls. Also, look at that guy's gaming technique, he's shooting at the ground a LOT.  Anyway, what do you guys think? Will this be the next big thing, or just another accessory fad? Post to the comments, and tell us what you think

Review of Braid

Hey, dudes, I'm bored, so I thought I'd post a review of my favorite indie game. Braid is a PC game about a dude who wants to get his girl back from an evil monster, and does so by using magical time altering abilities. So, the graphics are about what you'd expect from an indie title, but they're more or less, pretty good, the music is pretty nifty, and the puzzles will stump just about anybody, I had to resort to an internet walkthrough, also, the game has a lot of "Super Mario" references and easter eggs, and I love easter eggs, so that was a big plus for me.
There's no voice acting, so naturally, there's nothing to screw up in that department. The story is kinda weird, but definitely worth your time, and the ending, is...well, let's just say, that your jaw will descend to the utmost core of the earth. All in a all, I give this game a solid 4 out of  5 stars. If you like indie games, check it out on Steam for a cheap price.
Well, that's all I got to say about that. Hang loose, dudes!

National Championship

What's up dudes and dudettes!? As you guys already know, Conner and I will be talking about sports on our YouTube vlog, Three Dudes In a Room and we are huge Tennessee Vol fans just to let you guys know. Well I figured I would go ahead and blog about the National Championship since it's a big deal. Alabama comes away with the national title for the third time in the past four years after defeating Notre Dame 42-14. Alabama running back, Eddie Lacy, racked up the yards in bunches tonight going for 140 yards and also helped the team with two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving. T.J. Yeldon, a freshman running back for Alabama also pitched in with 108 yards and a touchdown and quarterback, A.J. McCarron threw four touchdowns in the lop-sided victory. Notre dame didn't have their best game as the coughed up a turnover and didn't move the ball very well. Notre Dame quarterback, Everett Golsen did manage to throw a touchdown to Theo Riddick and run one giving Notre Dame all of their points. Alabama's stout defense came up big again and held Notre Dame very well. Although it wasn't the greatest game in the world, it was still very interesting and I can't wait for college football to start back next year! Better luck to Notre Dame next time and congrats again to Alabama on a great year of college football!

                                                                                                                                     GO VOLS!

Review of Mortal Kombat 9

Hey, dudes! Matt here, and I thought I'd bring you a review of an older video game.
Mortal Kombat 9, also known simply as "Mortal Kombat" is a remake of the hugely popular Mortal Kombat franchise. The game is updated with newer graphics that actually surprised me for a 2011 console game. From eye-popping maps to updated character designs to the awesome gameplay, this game boats how great a remake can really be.

Story mode will keep newcomers entertained while also keeping the interest of long time fans, with familiar faces all around. The dialogue is pretty good, with a few jokes thrown in to lighten things up.
And the voice actors did a fairly good job.

My rating is 4.5 out of 5 stars, so whether you're a n00b to fighting games, or an old MK pro, you will enjoy MK9. Certain retailers that I don't want to mention (starts with a g, ends with a p) will have this older title used at reasonable prices.
This is Matt with your game review, signing off.
